How Abby came to be

ABby's first bath to the left, she didn't like it at all. ABove she is just hanging out with dad.

It has been a while since I blogged. GReg has been very good and has done the last 2 posts. For those of you who are interested I thought I'd tell the story of How little Abby came into this world.

On Thursday I went to the doc and my bp was high and there was protein in my urine so she wanted me on bed rest and to go to the hospital on SAt for a bp check. Sat morning I thought I felt fluid leak or something. It wasn't a gush so Iw asn't sure what was going on. So i went in and my bp was high at first but then went to normal. They checked me and tested the fluid to see if it was amniotic fluid. The test came back positive but othere things could alter it so it was unclear. My bag of water was still intact. apparantly you can have a leak up high and it will trickle down before your actual bag breaks. So anyway, the doc decided that we better deliver just in case.

So, they started Pitocin at 2:20pm and the fun began. I tried to hold out on the epidural just so I could feel how contractions feel for a while and when I finally decided I wanted it there was another emergency so I had to wait longer!! It was wonderful once it was in. After like 3 hours I was only a 3 because they thought my water had broken but then they realized they just couldn't feel it so they broke it and things moved along. As the night went on ABby decided to not tolerated the contractions and her hr would go down to hte 60's. They were changing my position like every 5 min and then they turned off the pit and gave me a shot to stop the contractions to give her a rest. I was almost a ten and the doc came in, Abby wasn't even tolerating small contractions so we did a test push. Then all of a sudden the doc said we were going to the OR now!! Of course I became very upset and it was scary because people just started rushing in. About 20 minutes later Abby was born by c-section. I was very out because of morphine so I didn't really know what was going on. Greg was there the whole time (probably freaked out). He did very well and was very helpful. My parents made it about 15 minutes before I went to the OR so that was good. For your information, C-sections are the worst thing ever. The pressure is horrible and you feel like your insides are being ripped out (they pretty much are, ha ha). Now its just hard to get around because of the pain but I am recovering well. All that matters is that Abby got here safely and I am so grateful that she did. THanks for all you texts and phone calls.
P.S. Abby passed her birth weight today, hooray!! She now weighs 5 pounds 12 ounces. When we left the hospital she was 5lbs 4 oz. ha ha

I totally agree with the C-section being the worst. I have had 3. But it got better each time, don't know how, but it seemed that way to me. I want to come and see you and Abby, but i will wait for the weekend, if that's OK.

When I read that title, I thought you were about to give a play-by-play of Abby's conception! Ha ha! Well, she's a gorgeous girl. Evan hated his first bath, too. But, every bath since, he has LOVED it.
